  Miserable week ahead for witness kids in England-The Coronation

  i feel sorry for witness kids this week.

  schools going crazy with the coronation in england.

  witness won’t be allowed to participate in a harmless tradition that whatever you think of the monarchy will be a lot of fun..

  we all lined up to get a Coronation Mug and replica anointing spoon

  Didn't get the spoon but we did get the mug and a New Testament with the Coronation embossed on the front. We didn't have a TV in those days so we went to a relative's and watched it. As BB inferred things were not so strict then.

  My parents were baptised when I was a young lad in the 1940's but I can still remember the house being decked up for Christmas, the tree with lights and receiving presents. In fact I still have the lights from that tree in our loft!

  Maybe dig out the mug and fill it with something, Sis England can have a drink from her coronation cup and saucer.

  I have never heard a single mention of this from anyone in the congregation. Having said that I know of several elders who never ever look at jw dot org.

  I think he was crying because he propositioned a gay jw teen who turned him down and then later committed suicide.

  I thought that was Ewart Chitty. He was removed from the GB, ousted from Brooklyn Bethel and sent to London Bethel where he was given a back room job and told to keep quiet. He was assigned to a local congregation where he was very popular.

  I always thought some of us would be driving around looking for bodies. When we found one we put a stick in next to it and the burial guys would come along and do the digging. Has something changed?

  is this the "great tribulation" which jesus warned he would bring upon the corrupt christian congregations worldwide, (revelation 2:22; 7:14) or is it the same 1st century g.t.

  which he said would never occur again?

  (matthew 24:21).

  Just read that Carl Olof Jonsson died yesterday

  for newbies, who was carl olof jonsson?

  he was a jw in sweden who was challenged by a householder in the 1960s, who pointed out to him that secular history books don’t agree with watchtower that jerusalem was destroyed in 607 bce, but instead place the event 20 years later.

  the reason the date is important is because it is the starting date for jw chronology which leads to 1914 as the end of the gentile times, and the beginning of the last days, as jws understand it.

  Very sad but it all depends on the quality of life, 85 is not too bad.

  I think the time for the WT society to change their stance on 607/1914 has long passed. After all these years they could never face their members if they made such a doctrinal change. Their last opportunity was the Oct/Nov 2011 with the two part article "When was Jerusalem destroyed?"

  The same is true of evolution. They are still telling their school children to challenge their teachers and it all started 6,000 years ago with Adam & Eve. Despite it being a lost argument they will still hang on, unable to admit they were wrong all these years and that evolution is fact.

  Christmas Decorations at the Kingdom hall

  i can't remember if i've told this story before .... but back in the day, in irlam congregation (northwest england, uk, cheshire #1 circuit i think) we used to rent a kingdom hall for many years before we eventually built our own.. preston hall.

  ah, the memories .... it was primarily used as a community hall for old folks, but we had it friday night and sunday morning.. there was a loft and fold-out ladder and we used to store the chairs up their.

  every meeting, there would be an assembly line of all the "lads" to pass the chairs down and set them up, then collect them up and pass them back up at the end of the meeting.

  Back in the 1950's we met in a room attached to the local Public Library. This was similarly rented out to various other groups and clubs who put up Christmas decorations every year. It was in the days when the "Chart" was hung in KH's and it was so funny to see this surrounded by all the Christmas glitter.

  The letters that JW's write have to be hand written, this means that it takes about an hour to write four letters compared with dozens or even hundreds per hour with a word processor. It doesn't do any good whatever, it just keeps the R&F busy and able to count time in the process.
